Drop-Off Catering
Food arrives ready for the table, in combinations that make planning easier. Guest minimums and prices are confirmed in the quote.
Home Soul food catering
Tayste of Tay Catering LLC cooks the event. Offices, weddings, rehearsals, and backyard crowds get the same kitchen that runs the truck, plated for a room instead of a window.
Get a catering quoteCatering covers the Bay Area. If the tables are in San Francisco, in Oakland, or somewhere else on the East Bay side of the water, that is a catering job. Berkeley sits inside that East Bay map, and it is also one of the two cities where the truck usually parks.
The truck and the catering calendar are not the same route. The truck is mainly in Oakland and Berkeley. A luncheon in the city does not depend on catching the truck at a corner. Tell us the address on the quote form and the reply comes back as a catering plan, not a pin on the weekly schedule.
Published hours for the business are Monday through Thursday, 10AM to 5PM, and Friday and Saturday, 7PM to 2AM. Sunday varies. An event can be booked outside those hours. Put the real start time in the note so the quote matches the room, not the truck window.
Ribs, mac, and cornbread from the Tayste of Tay photos. Ask for them by name if you want them on the event menu.
Drop-off and full-service are listed on the catering packages page. Guest counts and pricing are confirmed in the quote.

Full-service means staff on site. How many people are on the crew is part of the quote.

Menus can be built as soul food, barbecue, an upscale corporate spread, brunch, a pasta bar, a taco bar, a seafood boil, a late-night menu, or something written for that room. That customization list is already on the catering page.
Southern dinners on the current menu are fried or blackened catfish, buttermilk fried party wings, and chicken strips. Each one comes with two sides: pepper jack mac and cheese, collard greens with smoked turkey, or glazed candied yams. There is also catfish or chicken over seasoned fries, a Double Up of fried jumbo shrimp and fried chicken, and sandwiches. The fried chipotle chicken sandwich is a buttermilk breast in chipotle sauce with pepper jack, lettuce, homemade pickles, and dill ranch. The grilled chipotle chicken and the smoked cheddar cheeseburger sit next to it. Wings come in glazed lemon pepper, lemon pepper, honey BBQ, or hot honey. Brown sugar lemonade and brown sugar Kool-Aid are the house drinks.
A second list lives in the photos and the reviews, and it is not the same as the standing Clover item list: baby back ribs, hibachi wings, cornbread muffins, peach cobbler bites, and Heath bar cheesecake. If you want one of those at the event, write it into the quote. They do not have a published tray price.
The inquiry form sorts events into corporate or office, wedding, private party, festival or block party, drop-off catering, or other. That is the list to trust, because it is the list Chef Tay actually reads.
An office lunch and a rehearsal dinner do not want the same service. Drop-off is the quiet version: trays, labels, and a host who can set a buffet without a crew in the room. Full-service is the version with staff on site. Food truck service is the third shape, when the event wants the window itself parked at the party. Late-night events are called out on their own, for the hour when a dinner menu would be the wrong menu.
Headcount, the date, and the neighborhood still have to be on the quote before anyone can say yes.
Catered our 80-person company event and Chef Tay nailed it. Custom menu, hot food, zero stress on our end. Booking him again.
We did Tayste of Tay for our wedding rehearsal dinner and our families are still talking about it. The cornbread had people fighting over the last muffin.
Booked the truck for my dad's 60th. He cried. The food was that good.
Whatever they're doing with those garlic noodles should be illegal.
Those four notes are already on the reviews page. Sarah’s was an 80-person company event. Marcus and Jenelle’s was a rehearsal dinner. @auntiecora booked the truck for a 60th birthday. The garlic-noodle note came from an office-lunch regular. Same kitchen, four different rooms.
Yes. Catering from Tayste of Tay Catering LLC covers the Greater Bay Area and Central Valley, including San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, and the East Bay. The food truck is a separate service and is mainly in Oakland and Berkeley.
A catering minimum is not published. Put your headcount in the quote form and Chef Tay will say whether that size can be booked.
Drop-off catering and full-service events are on the catering page. Drop-off means trays that arrive ready. Full-service includes staff on site. That page also lists buffet setup, food truck service, corporate catering, weddings and private events, and late-night events. Menus can be soul food, barbecue, brunch, pasta bars, taco bars, seafood boils, late-night menus, or a custom menu built for the event.
The quote form asks you to choose corporate or office, wedding, private party, festival or block party, drop-off catering, or other.
Catering prices are not listed on this page. The quote is custom. Live truck-menu prices on Clover are for on-demand orders, not for event trays.
The truck menu is the flavor base: fried and blackened catfish, buttermilk fried party wings, chicken strips, and sides of pepper jack mac and cheese, collard greens with smoked turkey, or glazed candied yams. Sandwiches include the fried chipotle chicken, the grilled chipotle chicken, and the smoked cheddar cheeseburger. Wing flavors on the menu are glazed lemon pepper, lemon pepper, honey BBQ, and hot honey. House drinks include brown sugar lemonade and brown sugar Kool-Aid. Ribs, hibachi wings, cornbread muffins, peach cobbler bites, and Heath bar cheesecake show up on the home page and in reviews. Name them in the quote if you want them. Tray prices for those plates are not published.
